M+P consulting engineers
M+P Raadgevende ingenieurs bv performs research, development and consultation work in the field of noise and vibration. M+P focuses on industrial and transportation noise issues. Our transportation noise activities comprise several activities on both national and international level. We do fundamental research in the area of tyre/road noise generation and of road vehicle noise sources such as engines, gear-systems, intake and exit noise etceteras. M+P develops low noise road surfaces, noise kits for heavy vehicles, and noise solutions for passenger cars; we work on measurement methods and modelling for the acoustic properties of road surfaces and of road vehicles. Besides road traffic we are working on rail noise issues, for instance on the acoustic modelling of the high speed line that is being constructed, running from Amsterdam to Paris. Recently we have updated the official Dutch Noise Calculation Scheme for road and railway traffic. Our consulting work ranges from small scale measurements to a European transportation noise study and EU noise mapping for the European Environmental Agency. This work is presented in international standardisation bodies we are participating in: ISO TC43/SC1/WG 27, WG33, WG38 (convenor) and WG 42. M+P participates in the UN/ECE/WP29 experts-on-noise-group developing type approval systems for vehicles and tyres. M+P is involved in the Harmonoise project, as well as on the Silvia and Silence projects researching tyre/road noise generation and abatement. M+P is also involved in the Rotranomo project on urban road traffic noise. Besides transportation noise, M+P is active in the area of industrial noise control, dedicated to equipment and total plants in the petro-chemical industry, harbouring activities, shunting yards and other complex systems. We develop low noise equipment and procedures, we advice on the noise control regulations of local and national administrations and we supply the technical infrastructure for large size land planning. M+P is also active within the area of building acoustics and physics, working on noise pollution from outside transportation or recreation, or from inside machinery and installations. We can also give profound advice on the acoustical design or improvement of theaters and room acoustics, and on other physical problems such as thermal isolation, humidity, and energy efficiency.
