DeltaRail BV

DeltaRail BV is the privatised company name of the former NS Technisch Onderzoek (NSTO), the research and technical consultancy organisation of the Netherlands Railways (NS).

DeltaRail BV employs some 120 researchers and technicians in the fields of noise and vibration, environmental chemistry, hazardous goods, tribology, metals and materials. DeltaRail BV has a long experience in dynamic and acoustic behaviour of wheels, wheelsets and rails, noise and vibration measurements, testing, modelling and developing national calculation rules and noise strategies. Design and production of software tools for prediction, analysis, economic study and environmental impact of traffic noise is a fast growing activity. DeltaRail BV noise software is used by more than 150 companies and organisations in Europe.

Customers of the Noise Division of DeltaRail BV are found within and outside NS, and studies are carried out both on rolling stock and infrastructure related topics as well as on environmental impact issues. DeltaRail BV works for the project offices that build the Betuweroute (dedicated freight line from Rotterdam Port of German border). DeltaRail BV participates in national research, development and application projects.

DeltaRail BV is Coordinator of the Harmonoise project and has been a major partner in European projects as EUROECRAN (3rd FP), EUROSABOT, Silent Freight, Silent Track, RENVIB, METARAIL (4th FP) and STAIRRS (5th FP).
