| Foort lives in a small town at about 1 km from a major road and rail road. An industrial plant is as close as 100 m from his house. The nearest airport is at 15 km from his house. The industrial noise can be heard all the time, though it does not keep him awake at night. His fields of expertise are aircraft noise road traffic noise, low-noise road surface, noise barriers, measurement techniques and outdoor sound propagation. Foort has contacts within the Dutch Ministries and several ISO working groups.
