2017, 2022, 2027 and so on will be the years of subsequent noise mapping operations.
2012: End of second mapping operation in the Member States. Harmonoise methods to be used for computations. In order to implement the Harmonoise methods in time, Member States must start well before 2012 with this mapping operation.
2007: End of first mapping operation in the Member States. National models or interim models to be used for computations.
Dec 2006: End of IMAGINE project. The main products of the project are practical guidelines that describe how to measure source data for the Harmonoise methods, and how aircraft noise and industrial noise is to be treated. Databases and mapping specifications are given. Also, the relationship between noise mapping and road trafic flow modelling is described.
Jan 2005: End of Harmonoise project. The main products of the project are reports on source description, measurement methods, propagation methods and databases with propagation measurement data and source parameters.
Dec 2003: Start of IMAGINE project. The IMAGINE consortium is formed by 27 European organisations. Their expertises are essentially the same as those of the Harmonoise consortium, but have been extended with aircraft and industrial noise specialists and noise mapping specialists.
Aug 2001: Start of Harmonoise project. The Harmonoise consortium is formed by 19 European organisations specialised in noise measurements, noise propagation and noise prediction software.
